Few theories have captured the imagination of scholars of urban politics as completely as that of urban governing regimes in recent years. At much the same time, urban universities have become more aware of their special roles, purposes, and pursuits in the development and improvement of cities. This article summarizes regime theory, examines the implications for urban universities and their leaders, and offers an illustration from the experience of Georgia State University and its president, Carl Patton.Downloads
